SUMMARY:DAWN CHORUS WALK SATURDAY 25TH APRIL
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our very special Dawn Chorus Bird Walk where we will be treated to the delightful morning melodies from our resident birds such as Blackbird\, Song Thrush\, Wren\, Robin\, Dunnock\, Chaffinch and Skylark. \nWe may also hear migrant species that have travelled thousands of miles from their wintering grounds\, now preparing to breed\, with males singing to attract a mate. \nSpecies such as Blackcap\, (also known as the Northern Nightingale) due to its fluting song\, should be heard plus Chiffchaff\, Common Whitethroat and maybe the rarer Lesser Whitethroat too. \nIf the weather is kind we should also have a wonderful view of the sun as it rises in the east at approx 5:45am. \nLocal Birders Stephen Carter and Paul Lewis\, alongside farm ranger Steve Dutch\, will be guiding us through the morning\, answering questions\, highlighting and identifying birdsong and enabling us to get a close look at our feathered friends using their specialist birding monocular. \nWhen: Saturday April 25th – 5am-7am. \nWhere: Woodoaks Farm Maple Cross.WD3 9QX. Located just minutes away from Junction 17 of M25. \nWho: Adults and children. 12+ years. All children to be accompanied by an adult. \nCost: \n\n£5 Adults\n£4 Children.\n\nWhat to wear and Bring: Wear sturdy shoes or walking boots as the tracks around the farm are uneven or may be muddy. \nDogs: As we are keen not to disturb the wildlife\, we would ask for you to leave your dogs at home on this occasion – however guide dogs are welcome. \nAccess: \nWith uneven tracks and hills en route and the possibility of mud and puddles we are sorry to say that the route will not be manageable by unmotorised wheelchairs. \nWe do have one all terrain scooter available that can manage this route easily. This will be bookable on a first come first served basis. Please book the Tramper ticket and and then email us at info@woodoaksfarm.com so we can arrange and ‘driving induction’ in advance. You will need to arrive 10 minutes early to complete this. \nWoodoaks Farm Volunteer sight guides will be available for the walk. On booking your ticket please indicate your interest in a sight guide for the morning and email us at woodoaksfarm@gmail.com to make sure we can have a volunteer available for you.
