New Gates. New Access

A few weeks ago our gates into Bottom Wood and the top field by the M25 bridge were vandalised.

Whilst this was truly disheartening, it meant that we had to work fast to replace them. Thankfully with the speedy help of Chilterns Natural Landscape and the DEFRA and Access For All programme, we were able to turn this misfortune into an opportunity for positive change.

Selected under the personal guidance of the PHAB Charity Ceo Mik Scarlet, new accessible gates have now been put in that allow wheelchairs through, including Woodoaks’ own all terrain mobility scooter. …as shown here by Gary our brilliant volunteer.

We’re not yet quite at the point that Bottom Wood paths have been cleared for wheelchair users, but rest assured it is on our to do list!

To everyone who has voiced a concern regarding the infamous NO DRAGON WOOD sign – this will be back up again in the next couple of days.

Thank you Dave of Whitby’s Family Farm and Woodoaks’ farm ranger Steve for working so hard to get the installed. …this really couldn’t have been achieved without the assistance from Marty the dog!

(Please note that whilst the gates may appear locked – they aren’t. They have a two way swing to open outwards for wheelchair users. For wheelchair access you will need to use your radar key. We have a spare one on the farm. Please email on woodoaksfarm@gmail.com if you need to borrow it.)
