Bring your class to the farm to learn through hands-on experiences – exploring how food is grown, how nature works, and how we care for the land.
Designed for Early Years, KS1, and KS2, our sessions support learning across science, geography, and understanding the world. Sessions are inclusive, calm, and thoughtfully structured to help children settle in and engage in ways that work for them.
“It was lovely seeing them engage with the world around them and seeing their curiosity about everything” Karen Batchford, Shepherd School
Visits last 2 hours and typically begin at 10:00am on Wednesdays. We currently accommodate groups of up to 30 pupils, as well as smaller groups.
Each session follows a simple structure:
Schools choose two activities from our programme. Sessions are practical, hands-on, and adaptable – we’ll help you select options that suit your group and curriculum focus.
“The visits are always tailored to the needs of the class visiting – the work being done at Woodoaks is truly inspiring.” Michelle Dean, Chorleywood School
Activities explore themes such as habitats, plants and animals, soil and compost, food production, sustainability, and caring for the environment. Some are seasonal, and we’ll guide you in choosing the best options for your visit.
Here are some of the activities we offer:
Farm Walk Explore the farm, noticing habitats and how people use and care for the land.
Life in Compost Discover decomposition, minibeasts, and how materials return to the soil.
Soil and Rocks Dig into the ground to explore what plants need to grow and why soil matters.
Grain to Flour Follow the journey from crop to food and see how materials change.
Inside a Beehive Learn about bees, pollination, and how living things depend on one another.
Bird Box Making Take part in a practical build, supporting habitats and developing problem-solving skills.
We aim to make visits accessible and inclusive wherever possible.
Sessions are designed to support a wide range of needs, offering a calm, structured environment with flexibility for children to take part at their own pace.
“A unique experience ran by warm, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate volunteers who understood and catered for the needs of our students and worked at their pace.” Shelley Irvine, Alfriston School
We understand that every group is different, and we take time to plan sessions that reflect your pupils’ needs.
Please get in touch to discuss any specific requirements.
We offer a limited number of funded visits for schools who may not otherwise have access to experiences like this. We also offer paid visits at £12.50 per pupil. To check availability or book a visit, please register your interest.
Once a date is agreed, we’ll work with you to plan a session that suits your group.
Schools can choose to extend to a full day, allowing more time for lunch and self-led exploration.
