A couple of wondrous days with the superb Shepherds JMI school Years 4 and 5 pupils.
Dissecting owl pellets, checking out caterpillars, wildflowers, soil, bugs and mini beasts. Got curious about compost. Took part in a biodiversity survey, looked at habitats, made bird boxes and reflected on plastics and food miles and how we can be kinder to our environment and planet.
Phew!
…what a lot of ground we covered..
We also took time to listen to this bright and brilliant group’s ideas for our future Black barn Project; the the community, education and nature hub that is at the heart of our Woodoaks vision for the future. …all made possible with the kind support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Afterwards, we were delighted to receive an email from one of the teachers saying “Thank you for today! My class had the best time & I have never seen them so engaged and willing to step outside their comfort zone. Just amazing to have this wonderful resource on our doorstep”.
A huge thank you to volunteers Sue and Claire (of the Grow Wild Club), Ted and Jonathan, for your help in bringing what we are doing at Woodoaks to life for this fabulous group of children.
