Chorleywood Primary School bring the sunshine to a rainy day at Woodoaks Farm

We are so glad to be having a spell of sunshiny weather! Spring is on it’s way that’s for sure.

Last week it was a completely different story for Chorleywood Primary School. Despite torrential rain the children arrived with sunshine in their boots.
The reception class were a of sea colour in their wet weather gear. Our superb volunteer team pivoted on the spot moving and adapting all the activities to take place indoors in The Black Barn investigating recycling, metals and magnets with Eco Ted. A wormy story time with Grow Wild Claire. Hearing about owls and Woodoaks wildlife and meeting our best 4 legged volunteer Dolly Daydream the horse.
The Kites circled, the robin sat on the fence and trilled its heart out, whilst the skylarks rose in the sky with their songs of exultation. By the barn doors snowdrops did their wet weather dance, heads bobbing as the heavy raindrops fell.
We were lucky that the Chorleywood Primary children, teachers and parent helpers came with a great attitude and that we were able to borrow heaters from our events team to stay the right side of cold and wet… JUST!
IMAGINE: a warm dry space, where hands are easily washed, toilets are warm and story time floors are comfy… our vision of the Education And Community Hub as part of the Black Barn Project will provide all of this. Our final bid is in and sits with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. We’ve been met with extraordinary funding support bringing us towards the Woodoaks Farm match funding target that we have to raise of £800K. Right now we are over half way there.
In April we will be be launching a Crowdfunder and would LOVE everyone to get involved. It’ll be exciting!
IF you think you can help in any way shape or form – get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
Days like this only happen because of volunteers support from our Education team and parent helpers. Our thanks go out to all the parents and Jonathan, Claire of Grow Wild Club, Donna, Eco Ted and Dolly Daydream.
