Woodoaks Farm featured on National TV for the second time!

Waking up this morning filled with pride for our incredible volunteers and farm ranger, Steve Dutch, who were absolute superstars on BBC1’s Countryfile last night!

Watch the first of two clips HERE:

The episode explored how arable farmers can encourage wildlife onto their farms, highlighting the work we’ve been doing in Ladywalk Wood.

Steve and the volunteers aided by Chiltern Rangers CIC were shown creating scalloped edges along the woodland – an approach that provides crucial microhabitats for insects, birds, and small mammals. This varied edge also allows a mixture of light and shade to reach the woodland floor, supporting a greater range of plants and enriching biodiversity.

Heartwarming to hear local volunteers Sarah and Sue explain what volunteering means to them and the benefits they feel as a result.

As farm ranger Steve says – “It’s not just what we do for nature, it’s what we do for people too.”

You can watch last night’s full feature now on BBC iPlayer here.

Don’t forget if you haven’t caught up on last year’s December Episode of Woodoaks Farm on Countryfile  you can do so here.
