This week we finished our 6 week pilot programme with the fantastic Mission EmployAble interns. It was all hands on deck to respond to the toll the recent winds took on the farm.

On Friday evening Sally Findlay and Rose Lewis took a moment to join the team at Three Rivers Museum and meet those who have been integral to a superb exhibition based on the recently discovered John White Diaries

Many of you may have noticed Riverford Organic’s latest film that is being showcased across their social media accounts. Did you notice though that the film – featuring Guy Sing-Watson, Riverford’s founder – was shot at Woodoaks Farm.

This is a slight paraphrasing of a recent Soil Association Instagram post that we think followers of The Black Barn Project will find very interesting and relevant to the work we are doing here. It’s about organic farming and what we do and why we do it.

As a part of Woodoaks’ commitment to ever improving accessibility on and across the farm, this weekend we welcomed five members from Watford Social Centre For The Blind to trial an assisted farm walk.

A few weeks ago our gates into Bottom Wood and the top field by the M25 bridge were vandalised.

There was a fascinating article in this week’s Guardian which suggested that: ‘Primary school pupils should have the opportunity to knead bread dough, dig in the soil, plant vegetables and play with shadows…’

Last Saturday Rickey’s Alkaline Market Garden gates were opened to welcome families from London to a Family Farm Day run in conjunction with The Community Ministry of Health.
